Life Update | Where TBI Is Going in 5 Q&As

Anisha

1. Where are you going to college and what will you be studying? What’s your career choice as of now?

I’ll be majoring in Animal Sciences with a Pre-Vet Track at The Ohio State University. Hopefully I can make it to vet school and become a veterinary surgeon for companion animals someday.

2. What are you apprehensive about? Any fears?

The complete change in environment and the task of making new friends.

3. What are you most excited for about college?

The complete change in environment and the task of making new friends.

Yes, my fears happen to be the same things I’m looking forward to. I mean, I’m moving halfway across the world, living in a city I’ve never set my eyes upon before and studying subjects that I’ve waited to study my whole life! That’s both daunting and exhilarating at the same time. I’ve always been sort of a recluse, and opening up to people is a challenge but for the first time I’m looking forward to it. That may come as a surprise to those of you who know me as the absolutely insane girl that can’t stop talking, but I find it difficult to make good friends in the first place. Once, I’ve let down my walls, though… now that’s a different story.

4. What do you think will change about yourself/ your life in the next year? Are you looking to reinvent yourself?

It’s taken me a long time to truly love and feel comfortable in my own skin, but I’m at a place in my life right now where I know myself better than anyone. And I understand that sounds stupid, I mean, who can know you better than yourself? But I’ve come to realise that there are very few people who are able to accept their own flaws and strengths and know every nook and corner of their being so well that no one can say anything that will change their understanding of themselves. If that was confusing, I apologize. What I mean to say is, I’m comfortable with the person I’ve grown to become today and though my experiences and opinions may change, the essence of me won’t. I’m not looking to reinvent myself because I’m happy with who I am! I’m looking for experiences that broaden my horizons, knowledge that challenges me to change my perspective and people that have no idea about my past but appreciate the person I am now.

5. TBI will be in 4 different cities, come mid August. How will this change life on the personal and blogging front?

I can say with surety that nothing will change about our friendship. These last couple of years we survived being in different schools and meeting once a month. Now we just have to adapt to being in different cities and seeing each other maybe twice or thrice a year. About thebeautifulindian… I can’t deny that there will be changes in the timeline of posts and and the type of content we publish. Hopefully that’s all that changes!

1. Where are you going to college and what will you be studying? What’s your career choice as of now?

I’ll be doing a Liberal Arts course at Symbiosis School for Liberal Arts. I’ll be majoring in Psychology and  be doing a minor in Women’s and Gender studies. I’ll also be studying 18 compulsory subjects and a minimum of 8 electives over a period of 4 years. One of the main reasons I chose to do a liberal arts course was because I am still kind of confused about what career I want to take up. But its definitely inclining towards Psychology. I do have this one goal in life, and that is to help as many people as possible, whether it is in a huge dramatic way or its a small favour.

2. What are you apprehensive about? Any fears?

Well from 3rd grade to 10th grade I was in a small, sheltered environment, and grew up with some of the best people, and made some wonderful friends along the way. But then, in 11th grade I shifted schools and I found it extremely hard to make friends. I made a couple of good friends, a few other friends but that’s about it. I was loner, and that has really shook my confidence. Somehow I used to withhold myself from other people, and I found it extremely hard to strike up a conversation. And now that’s my biggest fear, that I might have to relive that dreaded experience.

3. What are you most excited for about college?

I’ll be studying 28 subjects  over a period of 4 years. I mean this in the least geeky-st way possible, I am excited to be able to learn that many interesting subjects. I have subjects like logic, creative writing, philosophy, diversity studies, theater and sociology  and plenty more. I can’t even imagine the amount knowledge I’d be gaining, my writing skills, my vocabulary, my general awareness are all going to improve. I am aware that this isn’t going to be easy and that is a very rigorous course, but I am up for it, I love challenging myself and this is one challenge I am most excited for.

4. What do you think will change about yourself/ your life in the next year? Are you looking to reinvent yourself?

Over the past 4 years, I have started to become very insecure about my body. I have the most wonderful friends, who are trying to help me get over this insecurity but for some reason its just too hard. So I am hoping to get over that, and I’ve already started, with small changes in my diet and exercise. Still have a long way to go, but I like to challenge myself so I’ve given myself a year. I am also hoping to mellow down a little bit. I’m kind of a sensitive, emotional, ‘take everything to the heart’ kind of person, so I’m hoping to change that. Other than that, no other dramatic changes. The key to a good college life, is be strong and be yourself and hopefully I can stick to that.

5. TBI will be in 4 different cities, come mid August. How will this change life on the personal and blogging front?

Like Anisha said, I have no doubt in our friendship. That’s going to last forever and nothing will ever change. But on the blogging front, I am little apprehensive about keeping schedules, I also fear that the quality of my pictures might come down because I don’t own a DSLR.

1. Where are you going to college and what will you be studying? What’s your career choice as of now?

I’m going to Pearl Academy of Fashion. I’m doing fashion design and that’s what I’ve been wanting to pursue since I was in 5th grade.

2. What are you apprehensive about? Any fears?

I’m going to a new place with new people so there are many fears, mostly fitting in.

3. What are you most excited for about college?

I’m most excited to learn, to be able to stand on my own feet and to be able to do what I’ve wanted to for so many years.

4. What do you think will change about yourself/ your life in the next year? Are you looking to reinvent yourself?

Being independent was always a task for me, I think more than anything that is going to change. I know there will be changes and I’m ready for them, but I’m definitely not looking to reinvent myself because I am who I want to be. I’m happy with myself and that’s most important to me.

5. TBI will be in 4 different cities, come mid August. How will this change life on the personal and blogging front?

The four of us have know each other far too long for distance to affect us. As we’ve practically grown up together I’m confident we’re going to stick together for a long time. When we started TBI we were already in different schools and I’d like to think that we’ve managed to do a great job and I’m sure we’ll continue to do the same.

1. Where are you going to college and what will you be studying? What’s your career choice as of now?

I am currently pursuing a Triple Major in Journalism, English Studies and Psychology at Christ University, Bangalore. My goal is to become a journalist. As of now, I’m not sure what sort of journalist I’d make, but I’d love to be a photojournalist or a travel journalist.

2. What are you apprehensive about? Any fears?

As I’m staying back in a familiar city, my fears don’t involve new cities or locations. Though I’ve already finished a month in Christ, I’m pretty apprehensive about being able to adjust fully, as I’m not one for change. The subjects I’ve chosen to major in are quite difficult, albeit interesting, so that’s scary too, because they ask for A LOT from their students.

3. What are you most excited for about college?

I never thought I’d say this, but I’m most excited about the subjects. I’ve been fortunate enough to be accepted into a course where I can Major in 3 of my all time favourite subjects. I’m excited to know what’s in store for me.

4. What do you think will change about yourself/ your life in the next year? Are you looking to reinvent yourself?

I’m hoping to become more headstrong. In reality I’m a person who can compromise and adjust, but that has to change as soon as possible because the field I’m about to delve into is so competitive that if you’re not strong and stubborn, you’d get run over. I’m not looking to change who I am completely, but yes, I think some change is in order.

5. TBI will be in 4 different cities, come mid August. How will this change life on the personal and blogging front?

I can’t say that nothing will happen to our friendship, as much as I’d like to. Distances do matter. That said, though, I’m extremely confident that we’d be able to keep our friendship going in spite of the miles- experience has taught me that. TBI is one thing that will tie us together for a long LONG time. Our thoughts, our content, our perspectives might undergo a change, but TBI will hopefully remain a constant.
